Tinted Moisturizer or Foundation?

By  |  11 Comments

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?

Valerie Monroe, Oprah Magazine’s Beauty Director, explains the difference between a Tinted Moisturizer and Foundation: Tinted moisturizer hydrates and evens out the complexion; a foundation covers the skin with a layer of color and gives it a flawless finish.

Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 20 Sunscreen

OUR FAVORITE TINTED MOISTURIZER

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 20 Sunscreen

The perfect solution for all skin types! We have tried many tinted moisturizers, and Laura Mercier’s has been the first to completely blow us away. The formula leaves your skin with a healthy dewy finish.  It is very lightweight, yet still has enough coverage to conceal redness, and mild sun damage. The tinted moisturizer also has SPF 20 to protect your skin from harmful rays, and protects your skin from the free radical damage with it’s unique antioxidant vitamin complex.

QUIZ

My skin is  (A) DRY (B) OILY

I like a lot of coverage (A) YES (B) NO

My skin tone is uneven (A) YES (B) NO

ANSWERS

If you answered mostly B’s then a tinted moisturizer is definitely suited for your skin!

If you answered mostly A’s then a light – medium coverage foundation is better suited for your skin!

Keep in mind, if you have oily skin, you may want to consider a light weight foundation as opposed to a tinted moisturizer such as:

index

e.l.f. Studio Flawless Finish Foundation $6.00

Armani Maestro Fusion Foundation $64.00

Sorme Mineral Illusion Oil-Free Foundation $32.00

Mostly B’s for me!! I going to try Mercier TM! Someone told me Armani was dewey and it was NOT! This article says it is recommended for oily skin and makes sense. My skin is combination but usually more dry. I spent a lot armani and I never use it. I really want a dewey look! I broke out from the STILLA so maybe the mercer will work out!

I am all B’s too. I do prefer tinted moisturizers actually. I have tried BB and CC creams, but the tinted moisturizers I prefer!

    1 – oily
    2- lots of coverage
    3 – uneven
I prefer tinted moisturizers because they feel better, but my skin is so bad I need heavy coverage. Sometimes I will use concealor and then put the tinted moisturizer over it and layer it with powder. I know it seems like a lot of work to cover everything, but it is still lighter than using a heavy foundation!!

I thought the $6 elf was a typo but it really is only 6 dollars. Has anyone used the elf brand before? I use the oil Free Laura mercier tinted moisturizer but I like the look of original one better. There is something in the original one that irritates my skin. The oil free has a different look though. I recommend the original to anyone whose skin can tolerate it. It has a more Dewey look

One word: BH COSMETICS. They have a great new HD foundation line. Their products are better quality than ELF and practically the same cost. But I do love ELF brushes..
